Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for disconnection or reconnection.
- Electrical equipment to be disconnected or reconnected is identified and purpose of the work to be carried out is verified with the authorised personnel.
- Occupational health and safety and other statutory requirements and established procedures are followed.
- Work clearances are obtained, isolation procedures followed and the work area is proven safe.
- Disconnect electrical equipment.
- Electrical characteristics and explosion protection specifications are identified.
- Visual checks of the electrical equipment and associated wiring are carried out in accordance with established procedures to detect any abnormal or obvious damage or fault.
- Isolated equipment is confirmed as de-energised.
- Approval is obtained in accordance with established procedures from appropriate personnel, before any contingencies are implemented.
- Electrical equipment is dismantled to the extent necessary for disconnection and without unnecessary damage.
- Electrical equipment components are stored appropriately to protect them against damage.
- Cables are identified and marked and connection sequence recorded.
- Cables are disconnected without unnecessary damage to terminals or components.
- Electrical equipment is inspected for damage to the explosion protection components and conclusions verified with authorised personnel.
- Any repairs required to explosion protection are carried out in accordance with established procedures and requirements.
- Reconnect electrical equipment.
- Cables are connected without damage to terminals or components.
- Connections are checked and tested to confirm correct polarity and continuity.
- Electrical equipment is assembled to comply with the relevant Standards for the given explosion protection technique.
- Electrical equipment is tested for safety and correct operation.
- Prepare electrical equipment for service.
